HEM 301- Nursing of Obstetrics-Gynecology Diseases

This course aims to students could have knowledge and skills for the protecting and promoting of family, women, newborn and fetus health.

The students, who take this course, are expected to have ability monitoring and caring of women/fetus/newborn before pregnancy, during pregnancy and after pregnancy period, identify health problems according to the woman's life stage and acquired the knowledge and skills to improve health care plan in resolving these problems.

The course content; the importance of women health and nursing, social and cultural factors affecting women's health, the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, the physiology of pregnancy, the mother's physiology in pregnancy, prenatal care, risky pregnancies, labor and nursing care of labor, complications of labor, Labor and ethics, newborn physiology and care, newborns requiring special care for, Puerperium and lactation, risky situations in puerperal period, family planning, phases of women's life, reproductive tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases, reproductive cycle abnormalities, anatomic and functional abnormalities of the reproductive organs, benign gynecological changes, reproductive system cancers, diagnosis and treatment methods in gynecology are included.

HEM 302 Health Law and Nursing

In this course students, is expected to know the basic concepts and health legislation on the legal system, particularly the laws, embodiments and regulations regarding nursing in Turkey, to realize any problems that might arise as part of health law, to be aware of their legal responsibilities, to take responsibility for patient safety, to gain the legal reasoning ability and teaching of legal logic, to oversee the lawfulness of health services.

In the content of the course; Law and basic concepts, laws and regulations of Nursing, health laws, Fundamental Rights in Health Law and International Dimensions, Basic Resources of Health Law, legalization (codification), types of law, interpretation of law, the rights concept and emerging legal events, actions and processes in health systems, the concept of malpractice, the legality conditions of medical intervention, legal liability arising from medical malpractice, some of the rights and obligations of health professionals is included.

SOS 301 Introductions to Sociology

At the end of this course, students, scientific knowledge and data collection process, the basic form of scientific knowledge and its properties; science, social science and sociology concepts; the organization of human relationships in today's society; interaction of cultural, individual and social (the processes, strategies, forms in the life cycle, and consequences of the socialization process); group, organization, forms of social control and social stratification; understand major social institutions such as education, the economic and business life, family and marriage, relatives under the influence of current trends and developments, position and comment their life experiences.

HEM 303 Nursing Ethics

These courses are included to development of the nursing profession ethical awareness, information about major ethical theories and concepts that form the basic, evaluating ethical issues in nursing practice and development of the ability to make ethical decisions. They can define ethical principles and concepts, notice ethical problems, make suggestions for the solution of ethical problems, adopt the core values of nursing, and become aware of professional responsibilities.

This course, human and patient rights, ethical concepts and principals, scope of ethics and bioethics, social-cultural aspects, the relationship between the philosophical underpinnings and the law, ethical issues in health care, scientific researches in ethics and declarations, the relationship between nursing and ethical care, the role of the nurse in hospital ethics committees, knowledge of the nursing ethical codes and to be able to decide ethical issues in nursing practice, is included.

ATA 301 Atatürk’s Principles and History of Revolution I

In this course, students could able to explain and interpret Ataturk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution concepts related to the course and Ottoman Modernization process, Young Ottomans, I. and II. Constitutional Periods, parallel to developments in Europe (Industrial Revolution and French Revolution) and World War I and Ottoman Empire disintegration at the end of the war, development after armistice truce, Congress held place in the National Struggle and Last Ottoman members of Parliament to take decisions on the National Pact, the period TBMM and the National Fronts, after this Mudanya Armistice was signed in, the foreign policy followed during the National Struggle, and the Lausanne Peace Treaty.


HEM 304 Nursing of Children’s Health and Diseases

In this course; students are expected to gain knowledge about normal growth and development, status of deviations from health and practical skills in relevant areas on children in the 0-18 age group.

The course content; children's health issues in the world and in our country, Standards,  roles, ethical and legal issues of pediatric nursing, High-risky children and their families, growth and development according to age, screening and health education, nursing of hospitalized children and families, nursing process, children’s common mental problems, accidents and poisoning, medicine applications in pediatrics, fluid and electrolyte balance in pediatrics, nutrition disorder of children, normal and high-risky newborns, congenital defects in newborns, infectious diseases, children with oncological problems, respiratory problems, endocrine problems, collagen tissue diseases, hematological problems, musculoskeletal problems, genitourinary system diseases, genetic problems, neurological systems, skin diseases are included.

HEM 306 Epidemiology for Nursing

In this course, students could be able to make the definition of epidemiology, define epidemiological methods, understand the benefits of epidemiological methods, realize where, when and how the epidemiological method used, earn how investigated of Researches in the light of the epidemiological method.

The course content; Introduction, definition and historical development of Epidemiology, epidemiological process and nursing process, health concept, epidemiological models and The health promotions, planning of health services and epidemiological approaches, data sources, criteria used in Epidemiology and its regulation, Descriptive Epidemiology, the concept of causality, analytic epidemiology, experimental epidemiology, methodological epidemiology, case study, surveillance scans, epidemiology of communicable diseases, epidemiology of non-communicable diseases, epidemiology of chronic disease, epidemiology of accident issues is situated.

HEM-305 First Aid and Emergency Nursing

This course introduces students, to gain knowledge and skills related to the measures to be taken over first aid when natural disasters or war, to save the life of individuals exposed to any accident, calamity and sudden illness timely order to prevent disability or limit disability.

In this course, students are expected to have acquired the skills to apply the first aid knowledge in an emergency situation with taking into consideration the basic principles of nursing.

ATA 302 Atatürk's Principles and History of Turkish Revolution II

In this course, students again to explain and interpret political reforms carried out in Turkish political life after the National Struggle (abolition of the Sultanate, abolition of the Caliphate and proclamation Republic), the law, education, economy, reforms are carried out in social and cultural fields, the execution of the main features of foreign policy during Atatürk’s period  and Ataturk's principles.
